History of the Faculty

Since its inception and almost until 2002, our school has trained personnel for the country's fire protection in its main and only specialty - "Fire Safety". The radical economic reforms that have taken place in Ukraine since the declaration of independence, including in fire departments, have created an urgent need to train specialists in other specialties who would provide appropriate professional activity to meet the requirements of the time. Kharkiv Fire and Technical College of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, which has acquired the status of a higher educational institution since 1992, was ready for such changes. Even before new specialties were opened, the structure of the educational institution was gradually adjusted to the requirements of the higher education institution. As a result, new units - faculties - first appeared in the Kharkov Institute of Fire Safety in 1996. Faculty №1 (this was its official name) trained specialists with higher education in the specialty "Fire Safety".

Later on, the names of the faculty and its supervisors changed, but the activity of training specialists in such necessary specialty as "Fire Safety" remained unchanged.

Since December 2016 the Faculty of Fire Safety has been headed by Colonel of the Civil Protection Service Romin Andrii Viacheslavovych, who graduated of Kharkiv Institute of Fire Safety of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in 1997, Doctor of Science in Public Administration, holds the rank of Associate Professor.
